Terms and Conditions

  • Sessions are run via Zoom as it allows for greater interaction between tutor and the learner. To access all the functions, it is recommended you use a laptop or desktop PC where possible. Tablets can be used if a laptop is not available but please be aware some functions may not be available.
  • Prior to the first lesson, I will invite you and your learner to a brief 15 minute ‘meet and greet’ via Zoom. This is a chance to introduce myself properly and we can check for any wifi issues beforehand. There is no extra charge for this.
  • Sessions last for one hour but if you would prefer longer or shorter sessions, please discuss this with me directly to see what I can offer.
  • If I have time following a lesson, I am happy to liaise with parents and provide progress updates. If I am not available, I will exchange information via email or agree another mutually convenient time.

Bookings and payment

  • Payment by bank transfer either termly (in advance) or week by week. If paying weekly, I kindly request payment is made within 24 hours following the session. A polite reminder will be sent after this time and failure to make payment prior to the next session will result in termination of tuition.
  • By booking a regular, term time slot you are agreeing to pay and attend all sessions within that term.
  • Holiday tuition is available on an ad hoc basis. Please discuss this further with me if you would like tuition over the holidays.
  • Payment includes lesson preparation, lesson time and marking/setting of any homework (if requested).
  • Homework will be marked with the student during the following lesson. For GCSE students, this will include use of the relevant mark scheme in order to explain how marks have been awarded and areas for development. Homework should be emailed at least 24 hours prior to the lesson in order to help me prepare for the lesson accordingly.
  • Marking outside of the session with detailed feedback (eg. if the student requests a mock exam) is available on request and will be charged per my hourly rate.

Cancellation

  • Cancelled lessons will be charged if less than 24 hours notice is given (except in exceptional circumstances). If the lesson is charged but cannot be used, I am able to send the work prepared for the lesson or rearrange the session at a mutual convenient time.
  • Lessons cancelled by me will be rearranged at a mutually convenient time or refunded if payment has already been made.
  • If a student arrives late to a session, I cannot guarantee extending the lesson past their hourly slot as I may have another lesson. I will send a text as a reminder and wait online for 15 minutes before logging off. After 15 minutes, I will still be available for the remainder of the session but please phone or text me so I can log back on to complete the lesson.
  • If there are any problems with Wifi during the session due to technology on my side, I will make up lost time during the end of the session (if possible) or the following week.
  • If you decide to end tuition, please give at least 2 weeks’ notice.
  • I reserve the right to terminate tuition following two cancellations per term or frequent late payment.
